Founder’s Perspective

Why I Started Fractional Growth Partners

Growth opportunities are everywhere. Execution is harder. The story behind FGP and the gap it was created to address.

Growth opportunities are everywhere. Execution is harder.

Over the years, I have met many good businesses with strong products, capable people and ambitions to grow beyond their home markets. Yet international expansion often stalls.

Not because the opportunity isn't there.

But because entering a new market requires much more than identifying a distributor, making a few introductions or preparing a market-entry presentation.

It requires local knowledge, trusted relationships, commercial judgement—and most importantly, execution.

That was one of the reasons I started FGP | Fractional Growth Partners.

The gap I kept seeing

Imagine a successful Korean technology company that wants to enter Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Or a Singapore SME that sees opportunities in Indonesia, Vietnam or Australia.

Or an established European business looking for its first meaningful customers in Asia.

They may already have an excellent product and a strong management team.

What they may not have is an experienced senior commercial leader on the ground who understands the market, knows how to navigate the ecosystem, can open the right conversations and stays involved long enough to turn an opportunity into business.

Hiring a full regional team before the business case is proven can be expensive.

Traditional consultants can provide valuable research and recommendations, but companies may still be left asking:

“Who is actually going to make this happen?”

FGP was created around that question.

A different model for cross-border growth

FGP stands for Fractional Growth Partners.

The idea is straightforward.

Instead of immediately building a full organisation in every new market, businesses can access experienced operators and commercial leaders on a fractional and project basis.

We work alongside the client—not simply as an adviser standing outside the business.

Depending on the opportunity, that could mean helping to validate a market, develop the go-to-market strategy, identify partners, open customer conversations, build distribution channels, support negotiations or coordinate execution on the ground.

And where specialist expertise is required, FGP brings together experienced professionals from our network who understand the relevant markets and industries.

It is a curated, high-touch model, not a marketplace of consultants.

Experience should create opportunities for others

There is another reason behind FGP.

Across Asia and other developed markets, there is an enormous pool of experienced executives who have spent decades building businesses, leading teams, developing customers and navigating complex markets.

Many eventually leave large corporations, but their experience and relationships remain extremely valuable.

At the same time, thousands of SMEs want to expand internationally but cannot justify hiring that level of senior expertise full-time.

I believe there is an opportunity to connect these two worlds.

Companies gain access to experienced operators when they need them.

Experienced leaders get the opportunity to continue creating value.

And FGP becomes the platform that brings the right people, opportunities and execution together.

From introductions to execution

We don't want FGP to be measured by how many introductions we make.

An introduction is only the beginning.

The real question is whether it leads somewhere.

Did we identify the right market?

Did we reach the right decision-makers?

Did we find the right local partner?

Did the conversation become an opportunity?

And ultimately: did the opportunity become business?

That is why our philosophy can be summed up in four words:

Cross-Border Growth. Executed.

FGP is still at the beginning of its own journey.

But our ambition is clear: to build a trusted network of experienced operators who can help good businesses cross borders with greater confidence, lower risk and stronger local execution.

If you are a business owner considering a new market, an organisation looking for experienced commercial support, or a seasoned executive who believes your experience could help businesses grow internationally, I would be very happy to connect.

Sometimes the next growth opportunity isn't about building a bigger team.

It is about having the right partner in the right market at the right time.
